Scope for Skill Development in Logistic Sector


Logistics Sector Skill Council, (LSC) a society registered under the Societies Registration act, 1860 is a not for profit organization set up by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) though National Skill Development Corporation of India (NSDC) and promoted by Confederation of Indian Industries Institute of Logistics (CII-IL) a Centre of Excellence in Logistics with the aim to develop skill trained as well as up-skill the workforce in India.

Logistic Skills Council (LSC) aims over a period of 10 years, to develop a detailed occupational mapping which covers all the sub-sectors such as Warehousing Storage, Warehouse Packaging, Land Transportation, Air Transportation, Shipping Transportation and Courier / Express to map all job roles (100), affiliate 1400 training partners across PAN India, 2700 Master Trainers and certify approximately around 4 million skilled talent pool in the sector.

National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) is implemented by Director General of Training (DGT) under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) with the aim to train 50 lakh youth as Apprentices by 2020, including the Services Sector in which job roles under Logistics & Supply Chain industry categorized as ‘Optional Trade’ can be considered.
